Three years ago on this day, I married my best friend. I had dreamed about my wedding and prayed for my husband my whole life, and it was such a wonderful feeling to have it all become a reality. Marrying Ben was a decision that I've never regretted, and a day that makes me smile whenever I look back on it. I can truly say that every year Ben and I spend together it gets sweeter and our love grows stronger. It seems crazy that we've now been married for three whole years (although I know one day I'll laugh that I thought that was a long time). Since it's our anniversary today, I thought it would be fitting to share a few photos from our wedding. It has been featured on several blogs and even a few magazines, so I tried to pick some photos that haven't made it online yet. Hope you enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment and I'll be sure to answer them. Ben, I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you and I love you so, so much...happy anniversary :)
Our wedding was planned on a pretty small budget, seeing as how we had both just graduated from college. We got creative with pretty much every aspect of the wedding, from my dress (which I designed and ordered from a company in China...scary, I know) to the food (barbecue, made the day of by family & friends) to the decor (thrifted and DIY). I had a lot of fun scouting and collecting all the different pieces to bring our day together.
Yes, I cried when I walked down the aisle. It was inevitable...
Our ceremony site was super simple, just a moss covered tree that we stood in front of. I had always dreamed of getting married outdoors, so (living in a city where it rains a lot) we picked July 31st because it's historically the sunniest day in Seattle. Lo and behold, on our wedding day it started sprinkling in the morning. I was worried, but it never turned to full-on rain, and it actually made the day a really pleasant temperature. I've heard clouds are good for photos too!
My bridesmaids and I made our bouquets the day before the wedding. I still really love the way they looked! I posted a photo of mine here too.
We had croquet on the lawn for guests to play after the wedding. It also made for some fun photo ops! Ben thinks the guys look a bit constipated in the photo below, though.
We put homemade cookies and old-fashioned donuts in drawers (I lined them with kraft paper first).
I made the cake topper using doll pins, wooden beads, fabric scraps, and paint.
I thrifted all the books for the centerpieces, as well as the mason jars. The paper pinwheels were made from sheet music, book pages, and colored paper...I just accordion folded a bunch of strips while we were on a road trip to and from California, then I glued them in place and used buttons to hold them together!
I used those paper pinwheels for the guys' boutonnieres too. It worked out great, because I could make them in advance and not worry about flowers dying, etc. Plus obviously, paper is cheap!
If you want to see more, I wrote about our wedding here as well!
Also, I'm taking tomorrow off because I don't want to spend our anniversary working on a blog post--but I did want to remind you guys to enter the adorable giveaway I've got going on with Gold House Paper! Tomorrow is your last day to enter...

awh, so lovely Aileen, your words and pictures! Congrats! Your day reminds me of ours in that I desperately wanted the ceremony outside and I woke up to drizzly rain, luckily we still managed to have it outside, and it was warm but not sweltering heat which actually would be too much....
