Sania Pell

Sania Pell is an author, interiors stylist and designer from London. She wrote The Homemade Home for Children and The Homemade Home. As you can probably guess from the title of her books, she’s the queen of simple and creative crafts. She loves "interior styling and flea market finds; homemade and handmade; celebrating the old and embracing the new; creativity, family and fun.” A girl after my own heart! I thought I’d share a little bit of her work today for us to collectively drool over. Oh, and if you recognize her living room, it’s probably because it was featured on the cover of Decorate (one of my favorite books)!

I love this quote from The Homemade HomeThere is nothing like the feeling you get when someone says how lovely something is that you are wearing, have in your home, or have given as a gift and you can reply, "I made it.” So true, isn’t it?

Adding a touch of neon paint to pieces gathered from nature or salvaged from a thrift store breathes fresh life into them!

Vintage clock faces picked up at a flea market make the perfect coasters...with no effort at all! My kind of DIY.

December Instagrams

I just got Instagram a couple months ago when I finally upgraded to a smart phone. Everyone told me I was going to love it, and I have to admit it’s pretty addicting! Ben says it’s all feet, food, and weather (which is kind of true). But I like seeing cute shoes, yummy food, and the snow everyone else seems to be having! Here are a few of my photos from December. This month, I want to make an effort to post more often, and prettier stuff. I’d love it if you follow along! You can find me under athomeinlove.

Peanut butter ice cream, muddy buddies, getting inspired to make coasters out of a log (which we did!), Monopoly Deal at Starbucks, rain boots, and my family.

Saw my typewriter at an antique mall for twice what I paid for it, industrial letters that had me drooling, the best BBQ sandwich in Seattle, a library book, and snowman Krispy Kremes at work.

Ben and I reading together, a cute movie from Redbox (I recommend it!), playing Settler’s on Christmas Eve, fish and chips in West Seattle (the fries were great but the fish was super salty...too bad), gingerbread houses at the Sheraton, and my favorite store Anthropologie!

Kara Rosenlund’s House of Neutrals

I just discovered the home and work of Kara Rosenlund...where have I been, you guys? Under a rock! In addition to being a super successful stylist and photographer, Kara runs a little travelling caravan of vintage wares, which is pretty much my dream job. And she lives in a charming white cottage on a hill...which is pretty much my dream house! So basically, I’m rather jealous of her. As you can see, she really knows how to do a neutral color palette in a way that’s lovely, serene, and totally not boring.

Cakies House Tour

I stumbled onto the blog Cakies about six months ago and absolutely fell in love. Rubyellen’s daughters are super adorable and their family is always doing creative projects and interesting things. But my favorite part (of course) is their lovely home! It’s brimming with personality, unique ideas, and vintage treasures...and it’s just too pretty not to share with you all!

I love the wire baskets on the wall as little “homes” for the girls’ dolls. Art and storage!

I also love those colorful flower pails mounted to the wall. You could fill them with fresh plants from the yard when they’re in season--but I think they’re cute when empty too.

Vintage ceiling tiles as artwork, and metal locker baskets as cubbies for organizing gift wrap supplies.

And my absolute favorite detail of their home...and indoor hammock! How fun!
