Unique Mother’s Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is right around the corner (May 11th, in case you weren’t aware). This year, don’t just pick up a bouquet at the grocery store at the very last minute! Get your mom something unique and fun that will make her feel special. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite gift ideas from Uncommon Goods to help you out. Uncommon Goods is one of my favorite stores for creative gifts that you won’t find just anywhere, and you can feel really good about anything you buy there. About half of their products are handmade, a third are made from recycled/upcycled materials, and the majority of their collection is created here in the USA! You can’t say that about very many stores. Uncommon Goods has a great variety of products too, so whether your mom likes funny gifts, pretty ones, or practical items, they have something that will be perfect for her.

Funny and unique gifts for Mother’s Day

Funny Gifts: Home plate doormat - $22 / Row boat salad bowl - $68 / Footed mug - $16 / Egg rug - $60 / Weiner dog corn on the cob holders - $10 / Sharpener pencil cup - $30 / Whale tissue box - $44

Pretty gifts for mom

Pretty Gifts: Agate coaster set - $64 / Robin’s egg soaps - $25 / Love birch cuff - $85 / Hands bowl - $54.99 / Personalized family pillow - $150 / What I Love About Mom book - $10 / Tube bud vase - $28

Practical gifts for Mother’s Day

Practical Gifts: Wine pairings towel set - $28 / Ampersand cheese and crackers board - $48 / Cake slice marker set - $29 / Owl eyeglass holder - $24 / iPhone alarm dock - $39.50 / Tube wringer - $21.95 / Slate heart server - $32

Which one of these ideas is your favorite? I have to say, I like them all (I mean, obviously I put the post together)--but the practical ones might be my favorites. I mean, a toothpaste wringer…genius!! I’m also a huge fan of the egg rug though. I want that in my kitchen.

10 Pinterest Accounts to Follow

I hope you all had a great weekend! Today, I thought I’d do another round-up of Pinterest accounts to follow. It’s been awhile since the last time I did one, and I have a lot of great accounts to share with you. Some of these are bloggers, others are just pinners with great taste. Either way, you should totally be following them!

1. Kevin O’Gara | Thou Swell. Kevin runs a great blog about interiors and design. I was shocked when I realized he’s just 16. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes by the time he’s 25! This guy is going places.

2. Liz McAvoy. I just recently came across Liz and her blog What Dress Code? I love how she put the titles of her Pinterest boards on top of all the cover images. It looks really professional and awesome, doesn’t it? I don’t know if I’ll ever make the time to do that, but I like it a lot.

3. Courtney Shelton | HIBRID. I recently discovered Courtney (and her blog) through a comment she left on one of my posts. She has great taste, beautiful handwriting, and an eye for fabulous color. You should definitely check her out!

4. Joelle Duff. Joelle is a talented wedding planner and a really sweet person. Her fresh, feminine pins are totally inspiring, whether you’re planning a wedding or not!

5. Oh So Pretty. Victoria of Oh So Pretty has a very distinctive style that I love--lots of neutrals, white space, and simple, clean lines. There is beauty in restraint.

Oh so pretty!

6. Laura Basirico. As far as I know, Laura doesn’t have a blog. If she did, I bet I’d love it, because she’s one of my favorite pinners. Her pins have a pretty, feminine, Southern flavor.

7. Apartment Apothecary. You may remember Katy from the DIY fabric covered lampshade that she shared. I really love her style! It’s a little bit vintage and a little bit country, but in a fresh way.

8. Mara Ferreira. Mara runs a lovely style blog (that’s her on the top left), and her taste is really impeccable, from fashion to food to interiors. I also follow her on Instagram, and she has one of my favorite accounts there too.

9. Renae Kim. Renae is a friend of mine in “real life.” Her house is really cute, and so is her blog Leona Lane. She has a great eye for vintage finds, delicious recipes, and photos that make me want to go camping here in the Northwest.

10. Audrey of This Little Street. You’ve seen Audrey on the blog a few times--she wrote a guest post for me while I was on vacation, and I shared some photos of her girls’ room too. Audrey’s style is bright, colorful, and full of life. I absolutely love everything she pins!

I hope you enjoyed this round-up and found some new accounts to follow. I’d love for you to follow me on Pinterest too, if you haven't already!

Who are your favorite pinners? Do you have a favorite account out of the ones I mentioned here?

A Pop of Color + A $100 Wayfair Giveaway

I’m really excited to have joined Wayfair’s Homemakers program. And I’m even more excited that for my first post with them, I get to give one of you $100 to spend there! Wayfair is a great place to shop for house stuff and more. They have so many options, and their prices are really great. For this post, I got to pick out $100 worth of product to add a pop of color to a room in my house. I debated between a colorful chair for my patio, a desk lamp for my new office, or something for the kitchen. In the end, I picked out a bright orange cast iron skillet and some striped yellow dish towels. Here is what our kitchen looked like before (from this post).

Kitchen update -- before

And here it is now, with our new goodies! The pop of orange makes me smile every time I walk by. And it’s pretty enough to keep on the stove all the time, even when it’s not in use.

Warm Weather Wish List

There’s something about the changing of the seasons that always makes me want to SHOP! And it reeeeeaaaallly felt like spring in Seattle this weekend. So gorgeous! It’s probably not going to last (I already see rain in the forecast) but boy, did it feel good to have a few days of sun, warm weather, and clear skies. It got me thinking about what I need for spring and summer….and of course, what I want. Here’s a pared down version of my warm weather wish list. I probably won’t get all of these, but they’re the pieces that I want the most. If you see a coupon code for one of these stores, let me know!

Warm weather wish list // At Home in Love

Adorable sandals with heart cutout - $250 at Swedish Hasbeens /  Polka dot blouse - $42.99 at Ruche / Delicate pendant necklace - $24 at Moorea Seal / Striped shorts - $38.99 at Ruche / Red Superga sneakers - $65 at Madewell / Polka dot sneakers - $75 at Keds / Super pretty white top - $78 at Anthropologie

What’s on your wish list for spring and summer clothes? Also, which sneakers should I get--the red ones or the polka dot ones? I’m leaning toward one of them, but I want to see what you guys say.

See more of what I’m coveting in my Closet board on Wanelo.
