If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that my DIY hanging mirror was on Sugar & Cloth yesterday! You’ll have to head over there to get the tutorial, but I thought I’d share a few other photos of my living room that I took while I had the camera out. It’s changed a little bit since the last time you saw it.
The mirror was inspired by the leather wrapped one from this post. I think it turned out pretty similar to the inspiration--and for a whooooole lot less (that one is $620--ouch!)
The Washington state artwork was also a DIY project I shared here. And the painting is one I did myself last month. I also really love my Leo Tolstoy print from Marideestudio. Ben recently updated it with a washi tape “n” at the end, so now it says, “If you want to be happy, Ben.” My husband’s reminder for me to spend time with him :)
I’d love for you to check out the tutorial for the hanging mirror on Sugar & Cloth. The supplies might surprise you...

Yesterday was the perfect Seattle day. High 80’s, sunshine, and the most beautiful sunset ever. When it’s that nice in Seattle, you don’t sit inside and write a blog post. You go for a run at the beach, then take a cold shower and head back outside for a walk with your husband, popsicles in hand. And that’s exactly what I did!

I’m hoping this weekend will be just as nice, but it looks like rain may be on it’s way. Sighhhhh….oh well, that’s why we have to appreciate and take advantage of every perfect day we get here. And I think we Seattleites do appreciate sunny weather more than people in most cities…everyone was in a good mood here yesterday! Hope you all are having awesome weather too. And I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

You guys remember those awesome nightstands that I posted about a couple weeks ago? Well, I found a cute alternative that has a similar feel--with bent wood and a light, natural color. In fact, I really like this whole collection of rounded wood tables from UK-based Trade Furniture Company. That coffee table on the top right is calling my name!
The rounded corners are practical too, if you have little kids and you don’t want them bumping their heads into sharp corners! But if you’re not into this look, I found some other great options for the bedroom from Trade Furniture Company that are a little more traditional and/or shabby chic. That four poster bed would definitely make a statement, don’t you think?
Which is your favorite? Do you find yourself bouncing between lots of different styles? I do…I’m sometimes drawn to modern stuff, and other times to antiques and more traditional styles. I think that’s ok--they can all work together……right?!
Thank you to Trade Furniture Company for partnering with me on this post.

You already saw this little project in the post I did about my home office, but I forgot to share the DIY instructions for it. It’s a wood block utensil holder! I got the idea from this toothbrush holder at Anthropologie. But then I got to thinking, why not use it to hold other things too, like pens, pencils, and paintbrushes? This project is sooo quick and easy, literally anyone can do it. And the materials are really cheap (there’s a good chance you already have them at home), so no excuses!
All you need is a block of wood. Then drill three holes equal distance apart and stain the whole thing with some wood stain.
Once the stain has dried, your block is ready to be used! You can definitely use it to keep toothbrushes upright. It would be cute to paint the bottom half a bright color, too.
Or you could do like I did, and use it to store your paintbrushes!
Easy, peasy--my favorite kind of project. Let me know if you make one! I’d love to see a photo.
