10 Punny Prints: Frida Clements

I recently came across artist Frida Clements through an article on Country Living. Being a huge fan of cheesy puns and plays on words, I was instantly smitten with her clever, LOL-worthy prints. These are 100% my kind of humor! Cherry on top, Frida is also from Seattle. Can you tell? I think these prints definitely have a little bit of a Northwest feel to them. Seagulls, blackberry jam, and deer? Yes indeed. I think my favorite prints are “Oh Whale” and “Snailed It.” Sooooo cute…and I love the mix of serious illustrations with silly sayings. Best of all, these are quite affordable--$7 for the black & white mini prints and $30 for the art prints (in color). Not bad at all!

DIY American Flag Berry Kabobs

Happy Fourth of July! I saw these American flag berry kabobs on Pinterest a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the idea…so I decided to give them a try! I know it would have been good to post this tutorial sooner, but I’m a last-minute kind of girl and didn’t get around to making them until last night (sorry!). Hopefully some of you are last-minuters too. If so, you still have plenty of time to make these! I promise, they are reeeaaally easy...and so “berry" cute, don't you think?

Supplies for American flag berry kabobs

You will need:
Kabob skewers
Raspberries
Blueberries
Mini marshmallows

DIY berry kabobs for the Fourth of July

Wash your berries beforehand and make sure they’re thoroughly dry before you start. My raspberries were still somewhat wet when I started, which made some of the marshmallows wet and squishy (ew).

Slide the berries and marshmallows onto the skewers. I used 17 skewers total. For the first seven, I did eight blueberries, then five marshmallows and four raspberries (alternating). For the remaining ten skewers, I did all raspberries and marshmallows. Except…I didn’t realize until later that I actually did too many stripes!! WHOOPS. For future reference, you should actually use a few less berries so you have thirteen stripes instead of sixteen. Hahaha.

Hope you all have a great Fourth of July. We’re planning on going to a parade today, then a barbecue (where I’m bringing these kabobs), and then we’ll watch fireworks at night. It should be fun! What do you have planned for today?

P.S. Also check out the star-spangled watermelon that I made last year.

Felt Ball Rugs

Have you seen felt ball rugs yet? They’re pretty much the happiest rugs I’ve ever seen, made of lots of squishy, colorful felt balls strung together. I first heard about them on Decor8 and have been coveting one of my own ever since (Holly actually got one for her son’s nursery, which you can see here). So when Nasia of Felt Ball Rug reached out to me and asked if I’d like to review one of their rugs, I didn’t hesitate at all before saying “yessss!" I was even more impressed once I heard a little more about how these rugs are made. From Nasia, "The rugs available at FeltBallRug.com are made from 100% pure wool from New Zealand, and the bright colors are courtesy of chemical free dyes. They have a natural protective layer that makes them repellent to dirt and water (which makes them particularly good fit for children). All the rugs are hand-made by Nepalese women. The women are able to receive a fair salary, while producing felt ball rugs from their homes and tending to their families.”

Felt ball color chart

Felt Ball Rug has fifteen standard color schemes that you can choose from--or you can select from 65 bright colors to create your own custom rug! For the custom rugs, you can even do cool patterns like grids or stripes. Nasia sent me their color chart so I could see all the colors they offer. So pretty, right? There are so many different combinations you could do.

Color chart

For my rug, I got the royal purple color scheme. They're probably not the colors I would have chosen if I’d done a custom rug (numbers 11, 17, 43, and 44 are totally speaking to me), but I think it’s good for me to break out of my typical color scheme and get some different colors in the house.

Beautiful felt ball rug

As it turns out, I actually really like the purple. And the rug feels sooo good under my toes!

The video below shows how the felt ball rugs are made. The average felt ball rug is made up of over 5000 felt balls (whoa)! It’s really interesting to watch the process. Check it out!

Thank you to Felt Ball Rug for partnering with me on this post. I would absolutely recommend getting a rug from them!

Elisabeth Eden’s Charming House

Back in January, I shared a tour of photographer Elisabeth Eden's vintage-filled studio. I follow Elisabeth on Instagram and I love her style, so I knew I had to get some photos of her house to share with you all too. And these photos do not disappoint! If you thought her studio was gorgeous, wait til you see this house...I absolutely love it. All the vintage treasures, the personal details, and thoughtful styling. It really feels like a home, not just a catalog spread or a magazine feature. You know what I mean?
