Mini-Vacations

Last weekend, Ben and I went to Cama Beach with some friends of ours and stayed at this tiny, adorable cabin right on the water. It was the perfect little mini-vacation! I realized that if we really want to try and travel more this year (resolution #10!), then these mini-vacations are the way to go. Because realistically, we don’t have enough money or enough time off from work to go jet-setting all year long. But little weekend trips around Washington? That, we can do. And we should!!! It was seriously so fun, so refreshing, and so good for us to get out of our normal routine, breathe some fresh air, leave the laptops at home, and hang out with friends all weekend long. Instead of watching a bunch of Netflix, we played games (lots of games), roasted marshmallows, went for walks, and combed the beach for sea glass (hey--resolution #2!). I came back feeling really inspired to plan more mini-vacations. Even if we don’t go anywhere, I want to declare at least one weekend a month as a “staycation” where put our laptops away and do something different and fun together.

Coffee on the beach

Camano Island coffee

Seaglass

What about you guys? Do you do mini-vacations? Staycations? Social media free weekends? I’m curious how you keep yourselves from getting into a rut--or from spending too much time on technology!

I love this idea! Mini vacation are almost most relaxing then a week away because you get to actually relax without spending too much money or travelling too far.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

Yes, exactly! And there's still so much of Washington that I've never explored.

Love it! Down time from the screen is awesome! Also packing and recovery from these stacations is much easier. It's actually a real vacation. Lovely spot you picked.

Please take me on your mini vacations! We visited the Pacific Northwest for the first time in August and I am utterly in love.

Aww! Yes, the PNW is really, really pretty. The rain gets old, but all the water, the greenness, and the fresh air never do.

I love these ideas. When we were in collage we did lots of staycations. We would blow up an air mattress and have movie/lazy days

Love it!! After our bathrooms flooded last month (which was NOT fun) we slept in the living room for about a week while we had huge industrial fans blowing in our bedroom. And that part was actually kind of fun! It almost felt like camping in our own house.

Cama beach looks amaaazing. That fog looks so surreal! I've only been to Washington once and regularly think about how want to go back. It's too gorgeous there.

YES to staycations/mini vacations, even if it's just roaming a nearby city for a day. I know exactly what you mean about using weekends to do some of that resolution traveling ;) Makes unplugging easier, too!

Yes, come back! If you're ever in the Seattle area, I'd love to meet you!
